you can do other build orders if you have some decent hunt and are vs like an eggy or something. Sometimes i like to boom a lot in archaic and get pickaxe and handaxe asap . you advance later than 5 minutes but that doesn't matter, you're just booming.
i can't remember how the build order goes.... honestly it really doesn't matter and there are variations you can do.

but i think i do something like 5 food, 2 gold, 2 wood, then basically just keep making vills and putting dwarves on gold when u get 70. Usually i think you can get handaxe pretty fast, like around the time you are doing your wood vills. Basically you just get the upgrades as soon as you have the resources, while putting vills on gold when u have the gold and sticking vills on food/wood in between. ^^
